Faculty Development
Infusing Technology into the Curriculum through Faculty Development
Planning for implementation relied on the premise that faculty and student technology development is much more than software and hardware training. The greater need is for training and guidance on how, when, and why to integrate technology into learning.
Well-Planned Workshops
The key to successful workshops is in the design. Here again, needs assessment is critical, as is evaluation. Wesleyan will use a variety of workshop formats. Evaluation results of each workshop format will be used to refine the process until the right combination is found to meet the needs of the faculty.
In-Classroom Presentations
Wesleyan faculty will learn how to use computers and software in their courses, as well as how to use hypermedia and multimedia to improve teaching and learning.
Training to improve faculty productivity
Faculty development activities will include training programs in productivity tools software for such applications as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, graphics, and a new course management system, to be implemented with Title III funds.
Faculty Development Website
A Faculty Development Website will be developed and linked to the College website.
Faculty Development Center
The Faculty Instructional Technology Development Center (FITDC) will be completed during the second year under the guidance of the Activity Director and Instructional Technologist.
