This proposal is for Time-Sketch Editor software. With this software, students can create
interactive diagrams of a recorded composition for use in class
presentations. Students
synchronize their analysis of a piece with timings on a CD so that significant
events in the music are pointed out as they are heard. The students are exposed in various
music classes to these interactive listening outlines but currently have no way
to create one of their own. Specifically,
students are required to present analysis of pieces in MUS 231 and MUS
332S. With the purchase of this
software, the students will be required to use the technology in their
presentations. I can also use the
software to create diagrams of additional pieces for MUS 150 and MUS
331/332. Music students who
choose to present their senior integrative experience can also take advantage
of the software.
This software will be used beyond the current
semester.
Time-Sketch Editor (Lab Pack for 5 computers) $200.00
No.
Students will be able to comment on the use of the new
software in course evaluations.
Also, discussions with students on the effectiveness of the software
will help to determine the value of the software in enhancing the studentsŐ
education.
